GEAR | The One-Strapped Backpack

Being a big fan of the adult backpack, I have to say there are times, the rarest of moments, when a backpack can come off a wee bit unsophisticated. Thankfully I've recently found this Japanese-made canvas bag ($215) at Portland's Alder & Co. that combines the maturity of a shoulder bag, the simplicity of a ditty bag, and the comfort and ease of a backpack (while still maintaing the understated nonchalance and radical swagger of wearing just one strap of a backpack).

Nice design, I haven't seen anything else like that on the market.

Only problem is the design negates the benefit I wanted from a pack, i.e., symmetrical shoulder weight distrbution.

And all the one-strapping badasses rejoice.

It would make a good diaper bag. You can't hold a baby and a bag and do anything else.

Hahaha, I used to wear my backpacks one-strapped, it's interesting how the style of how backpacks are worn changes over time.

Lizzie, your blog is an expensive habit. Happily this bag is no exception.

fox + stag makes a gorgeous waxed canvas messenger bag that can be converted to a backpack - it's always nice to have options. who makes the cardigan in photo #1?
