GEAR | Billy Kirk's No. 124

Despite all the bag coverage on this blog, it's actually pretty rare that we talk about clutches. Then I saw Billy Kirk's No. 124 Large Leather Clutch ($218), and it just looked like the perfect Autumn bag that could be used morning, noon, and night. The only question is: What color?

Stunning! The dark brown one is particularly beautiful.

I feel like this blog has evolved into one that is all about consumerism and material items - every other post is about an item to purchase. But true tomboy style is really a spirit and state of mind, right?

@Sripa:

I try to strike a balance between pursuing the style in material form, understanding it in a historical context, and highlighting the tomboy spirit. There have been a few posts lately that are about purchasing items (and I really care about featuring companies that are thoughtful in their process or small), but there have also been in the past weeks: a Q&A with a record label owner and a pro surfer, archival TV and film photos, a post about the idea of wearing in classics instead of buying new items, a tour of the Fender guitar factory, etc. There are bound to be weeks that are more shopping-heavy, but thanks for pointing that out. It's my goal to strike a balance and I appreciate your feedback.

For what it's worth, I have the dark brown. It is the best bag I've ever owned. Hands down.

I'm happy to see you highlight another thoughtful maker who seems interested in the idea of heirloom quality.
