SCENE | Smoke Tree Ranch

My friend Katie just came back from a weekend at Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs where the walls of the rooms are lined with photos from the early days. She took this photo of one of them and I had to post it immediately. How great is it!? Possibly one of the first examples of tomboy style in the Coachella Valley.

beautiful! Love the hair, jeans, top, everything. Is it the 40's or the 70's?

Looks like 40s to me, but there was no info with the photo. The valley looks pretty barren.

I think that's Palm Springs airport in the distance which was originally constructed in 1939 as an emergency landing strip for the US Army Air Corps. So the photo must be 1939 the oldest.

That was my first feeling but then I started to wonder - thanks for the background - I love your blog - lots of inspiration.
