UNIFORM | GnR sweatshirt

Photo scanned from the Early Fall 2012 Urban Outfitters catalog.

My first concert? Guns 'N' Roses. It was October 1989 at the L.A. Coliseum. I guess the only thing notable about that was that I was 6. Talk about Welcome to the Jungle. It's a long story, but let's just say my mom was an Axl fan. I didn't get a concert tee that night, but thankfully Urban Outfitters is making it easy for me to relive the magic with this sweet GnR sweatshirt ($59).

What was your first concert?

Guns n' Roses! (good old guns n roses) <3
Axl WAS ok, now he casts out of his concerts people who wear T-shirts with a picture of Slash ;/

Oh well, Slash fans shoulda wear their tees to Slash concerts, imo this is mere courtesy.

I could just say my last concert was GNR this June, and it was awesome. Unfortunately, their shows weren't available for me in 80s and 90s, but I do what I can now.

Now I know I can take my 6-yr-old to a metal or HR show and he'll turn out okay. Maybe he'll even become an author! But what were you wearing to see Axl and Slash when you were 6?

Duran Duran 1982 Madison Square Garden. I was 11. It was the 7 and the ragged tiger tour, I believe. It rocked me so hard to my lovelorn little pubescent heart that I was despondent for two weeks after.

Prince opening for Rick James at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. I was 13 and my brother took me. No one really knew who Prince was at the time. He came on stage with some serious 'tude in a thong, combat boots, and a neckerchief and that's it. He completely blew open my doors and also blew Rick James right out of the water. Life changing.

Sounds like you have some seriously cool parents, lucky girl.

As one of your more "seasoned" fans *ahem* my first concert was seeing Ray Davies and the Kinks perform at Cornell University the Winter of '80 when I was a freshman student at a neighboring college. I guess they were considered an old group by then but they put on a helluva performance just the same. (wish I still had THAT T-shirt)

In the mid-1980's I had the good fortune of hanging out in the mid-west with a dear high school pal who was working in the music industry as a radio DJ and I got to go to a lot of concerts thanks to her (Hey, Jocelyn, I got to meet gorgeous Simon Le Bon before a Duran Duran concert - he could not have been more gracious and endearing - my pal kept insisting that he was hitting on me, uh, I don't think so and at the age of 25 I felt positively ancient next to the 14-year-olds in that crowd, hah-hah). Much more memorable for me was, later that year, getting to meet Peter Gabriel who was about to go on stage....poor man was getting over a nasty cold but, again, being the consummate professional, could not have been more gracious to my friend and I.

I'm just a huge fan of music, both old and new and many different styles of music (some favorite concert memories are of Annie Lennox bringing down the house at the Paramount Theater in NY in the mid-90's, Eartha Kitt performing in NYC towards the end of her career, still just as vibrant as ever, and Jamie Cullum performing at the Beacon Theater several years ago).

Really enjoy seeing comments left by others here on this subject. Any fans here of Jem, Goldfrapp, Paolo Nutini? How about Supergrass? Sure miss them.

Prince's Purple Rain Tour in Cincinnati. I was 10. I've never seen a better show since then(except another Prince concert).

My first concert was Grateful Dead, don't remember it though as I was maybe 3 years old.

Definitely take your kids to concerts (with ear protection!) No better education on the uncoolness of substance abuse (honest truth)
