My favorite female athlete: Jenny Thompson! One of the most decorated female Olympians - 8 gold medals. And I met her as a young swimmer a few times, so inspiring! (Male- my dad, Tim Hunter, former NHL tough guy and taught me everything I know about hard work)

Evonne Goolagong... she was an amazing balance of feminine and masculine energies!
A natural talent and a player who never displayed her emotions or personal issues on the court.
No "trauma drama", she was professional and soooo Tomboy style.)

This photo has me so excited for warmer temps!

Rajon Rondo is definitely my favorite athlete right now. I just find him to be so intriguing, on and off the court.

But pro sports are a relatively new interest of mine. Not too long ago, I would have gone with my childhood riding instructor.

Chris Sharma!

All climbers, really. Especially the ladies in my climbing gym that have had multiple children and are still killing 13+ climbs that I will probably never do.
Shocked that Mia Hamm didn't make the cut! Mia pioneered the startup of women's soccer (sports in general) in the media, while taking on a huge role in the spotlight. Amazing athlete, amazing leader, and amazing tomboy.

Like almost every girl who grew up playing rec soccer in the 90's- Mia Hamm.

Although she has been mentioned above, I think Brandi Chastain is worthy of your selection. After fighting for 120 minutes in the World Cup Finals in 1999, Brandi took the team on her shoulders (and the dreams of girls everywhere) by scoring the winning goal in penalty kicks. Her intensity and focus alone should be enough to win her this selection, but what she did after is even better representative of the mission of Tomboy Style.

By ripping her jersey off in pure euphoria, Brandi showed the world that women are strong, beautiful, and fierce. Her confidence and genuine sense of self will forever be an inspiration to female athletes.

Roger Staubach. I wish I still had my old jersey. sigh.
This is tough, but as a UNC graduate, I'd have to say Mia Hamm!

You don't say it has to be a professional athlete. So, my favorite athlete is my daughter. She's one persistant soccer player. And won't admit she's a Tomboy 'cause she doesn't "do labels."
