UNIFORM | Slim Keith

Photo of Nancy "Slim" Keith via On This Day in Fashion. Idea came thanks to a comment chain on Amid Privilege.

"In my day, different meant not having your hair done in a pompadour and adorning it with a snood, or not trying to hide your intelligence behind a sea of frills. I somehow knew there was a glut in that market. I opted for a scrubbed-clean, polished look. I thought it was more important to have an intelligence that showed, a humor that never failed, and a healthy interest in men." —Slim Keith in an excerpt from her memoir, Slim.

Queen Hill Equestrian Jacket ($575, currently sold out); Poet shirt ($250); Snake Belt ($195); vintage men's Rolex (prices vary); Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss ($37); Tuxedo trousers ($30).

She looks eerily like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Both seem to be the height of chic in their time.

She does look exactly like Carolyn Kennedy, I thought that immediately when seeing the photo too.

This is the kind of outfit that could easily wear the woman (rather than the other way around). I like how she is striking enough to pull it off (that stance) and from a style perspective I find myself wondering what kind of shoes she might be wearing (black flats? black leather boots?)

Would love to see other examples of her wardrobe....I'm off to Google.
Can you imagine her and Babe Paley in a room together? This is one of my favorite photographs of her.

Have you ever done a profile of Kitty Hawks, Slim's daughter?

Sorry I never thanked you. An oversight, and a sorry one. xoxox. Still reading your blog, and still aiming for Tomboy.
