I have the filson tote with zipper. Much to the confusion of my peers, I bought it to use as a diaper bag! great roundup - couldn't agree more. I also love chester wallace bags. check out my pinterest board for my favourite bags!

But I also love the ones made out of old sails, and, of course, my classic LL Bean bag.

I have the Wm. J. Mills & Co. tote bag. They have been in the canvas business for 100+ years and that is where it all started. They are the best, multiple colors, multiple sizes. The best.

I ordered the classic LL Bean tote, and ordered the wrong size; loved it so much that I kept it and ordered the other sizes. The best tote for the money, and made in the USA.

Nearly $200 for a tote bag?! The real tomboys I know--the ones who do things like kick butt in mountain bike races and go rock climbing--don't go for overpriced goods. Instead, they shop at the goodwill and save up their money for great bikes and camping gear.

I don't think (as I believe this blog demonstrates) that the definition of a tomboy is quite so narrow. What you describe sounds more like a boy than a tomboy...as long as we are sticking to the concrete thinking game. This kind of thinking leads to the idea that we are not happy as girls, and strive to emulate what we think boys should and can do. That defeats the essence of a tomboy entirely. And fabulous tote bags are much better for sneaking flasks into the opera.

I'm all for high and low and price points that suit everyone's budget-which is why there is a $18 tote mentioned (and I'm all for Goodwill too!). But, I think the bigger issue is the differences between "tomboy" and "tomboy style". To me a tomboy is a girl who, to some degree, takes on gender stereotypes of a boy. Whether in dress or by competing in boy's sports, building forts, getting muddy, etc. But tomboy style is something that women possess, women who perhaps channel their tomboy childhood and then mix that with their inherent femininity and adult sophistication.
LL Bean tote bag is the most I like. wanted to have all there designs.
