SCREEN | Cat Ballou
Photo of Jane Fonda, dressed as her character Catherine Ballou for the comedic western film Cat Ballou, by John Springer, 1965; and similar photo via Movie Love.
I'm pouring over everything Jane Fonda at the moment, mostly because there's a photo of her (neither of the above) that I'm really hoping will end up being the cover of the book (fingers crossed!). In the mean time I've queued up this movie for the weekend. I might have time for another one too, so I'd love to know:
What's your favorite Jane Fonda film?
Comments
Jane Fonda owns land near where I live in North Florida, and she flys in and out of our airport...I've never caught a glimpse, though. I keep hoping! She is stellar.
My vote is for all the above movies and also "The China Syndrome". I was eighteen when that movie first came out in 1979 and was showing at our local theater. If memory serves correctly, it debuted about one week after the Nine Mile Incident (nuclear accident) and I can still remember when Jane first appeared on the screen...from the audience came a loud comment (middle-aged male) remarking sarcastically that Jane hadn't looked that good in years. At that moment, I remember having to reflexively grab onto the side arms of my seat because the rest of me wanted to leap out of my chair, run up the aisle and knock that smug bozo right out of his seat.
Strong performances from the entire cast, especially Jack Lemmon.
Meant to type Three Mile Island Accident previously but apparently my brain was having a meltdown.....
