Catherine Destivelle climbing the Bandiagara Escarpment in Mali, 1987.

This takes the idea of confidence to a whole new level. Absolute insanity.

Thank you Rachel!

So much respect for this woman. Talk about feeling powerful.

She is fantastic. The narrative though is quite problematic - natives stunned by white woman's accomplishment. They gawp. She climbs. They gawp some more then they do what they always do - sing dance cavort

Catherine is amazing! She made the climb look so effortless, like a nimble spider! I love how the African people use music and rhythm in celebration. What a genuine spirit she has- you can tell by the way she moves and interacts with the community. Very inspiring!
