When I'm going to meetings I'm usually schlepping a computer, a portfolio, magazines and printouts. Weirdly, there aren't that many modern work bags marketed to women. Is it just me? Do you use a dedicated work bag?
Clockwise from top left: The Classic by Cambridge Satchel Co. ($114); Philanthropist Tote ($296); Filson original briefcase ($210); Peter Jensen "Angela" bag ($640); Leather transport tote ($148); Il Bisonte Urban messenger bag ($334).

I use and love the tan version of the classic satchel.
I use this one from Queen Bee http://www.queenbee-creations.com/items/754 I've had it for five years and it shows no wear at all. Very sturdy and useful.
I agree, there's a lack of sturdy work bags for women. But I'm fine with buying stuff from the guy's section, so I guess no loss there. ;)
My work bag is my faithful Nanowrimo tote. It's incredibly sturdy, and I'm so fond of it. I've been using it for almost a year now, and nearly everyday. It's only just starting to show some wear & tear.
I totally agree. I've had my eye on a tobacco medium leather satchel : http://www.saddlebackleather.com/categories/97-Satchels-Medium/products/2033-Leather-Satchel-Medium-ipad-Tobacco-Brown
can't get more tomboy than that!

I love a good utilitarian bag. I have been really liking some of the totes from Lands End's Canvas offshoot.
I have the Filson and I love it! There's nothing better than having the best briefcase on the tube in morning.
it isn't easy to find the right work bag, for my money this checks all the boxes http://www.kikki-k.com/shop/product/leather-work-bag-kungsholmen/
buttery soft leather, white and grey ticking interior, lots of pockets, fits a laptop and manilla folders easily, leather handles and a cross body option and the price is good too.
Where is Claire Vivier?? La Trop is perfect!
I always use the Nivaldo de Lima 'Salvador' bag for any meetings and all my cameras when I go on shoots.

I have that yellow satchel and I love it dearly. Plus, I think it has helped notify cars of my presence. (:
So many good suggestions here, thanks all!
Unfortunately I have taken to using a diaper bag as my laptop bag! I really must, like, HAVE TO, get something better. There's really nothing like getting set up for an interview with someone I'm writing about, and pulling out a diaper. I shake my head at myself! Oh well, I'm a mama/journalist I guess. Still, there are a few I'm coveting. I'm thinking black leather and classic.
I use a guys bag too. It's an Emerica satchel Love it - it's started a bit of a practical bag crazy among my work colleagues :)

You are so right. I am embarrassed to admit that I use a backpack-as in, my high school backpack. So sad. :)
I find there are a wealth of really awful and useless purses and no other affordable or useful bags for women. It's like I'm either a girl who carries only a wallet and makeup and whatever, or I don't need a bag, unless I can spend $200+ on it.
OMG, I love the yellow one. This is the perfect bag. I want to have it now!!! Thanks for sharing. This bag looks so good.
i love marimekko 'olkalaukku' bags. i have them in a variety of colours.

i had the hardest time finding a work bag that would keep my laptop from getting beat up. love some of these, especially the yellow and orange!
i've been thinking of the transport tote for winter. i made a linen/suede tote for summer but the rains will start soon. the nice thing about how light and durable computers are these days is that you don't need anything too bulky or protective, really.
just saw this post, a bit late.
i discovered Travelteq recently and am obsessed with this out of my budget bag: http://www.travelteq.com/Trash-Canvas/Messenger
definitely looking to get a unique and stylish workbag...
I mostly use 2 work bags: a green cambridge satchel (15") or a Freitag Leland. Love them both, because they are quite indestructible which is a basical quality for me :D
