Q&A | Jocelyn Rahm

If you live in Portland OR., and you read this blog, chances are you know about Beam & Anchor—a vast brick and mortar store in North Portland that champions local artisans and well-crafted goods. The store opened in late 2011 after Jocelyn Rahm and her husband Robert decided life was too short not to pursue their dream. I'm dying to see it with my own eyes, it's definitely on the top of my to-do list for Portland, second to hanging out with Jocelyn Rahm!

If not in Portland, I would live in...Big Sur.

My dream vacation would be...India, Nepal, Thailand and Bali in a month.

My current obsessions are...

Food: Going with the seasons, it would be hearty stews with lots of organically-grown veggies and persimmons with everything.

Music: The newest from Phosphorescent and James Vincent McMorrow (with a touch of Chris Brown and Drake for counter-balancing purposes).

Fashion: My favorite outfit to rock right now is my Beatrice Valenzuela moccasins, old Levi's, a vintage Kiriko kimono and Tiro Tiro bling.

Retail Stores: General Store, Joinery, Esqueleto, Imogene + Willie (now in Portland!!).

I channel my childhood self when I...get lost in my paintings.

The fictional character I most relate to is...Elizabeth Bennet.

If I had to be outdoors all day I would...be with my dogs near a body of water.

My favorite qualities in a man are...self-awareness, truth-seeking, kindness.

My favorite qualities in a woman are...self-awareness, truth-seeking, kindness.

I'm terrified of...not making the most of this precious life.

My dream car is a...Porsche circa 1967.

My cocktail of choice is...Nolet's Gin and soda.

My celebrity crush is...Alan Arkin

My beauty product of choice is...walks in the woods, plenty of sleep and good vibes.

My friends and I like to...cook for each other and laugh and cry about how amazing and ridiculous life is.

If I could go back in time for one decade it would be...the 1930's pre-WWII.

As a teenager I was totally into...the Grateful Dead and patchouli.

I tend to splurge on...things that make me feel good: acupuncture, energy work, witchy concoctions.

My unpolished sensibility and rough and tumble approach to life...is what makes me have Tomboy Style.

I love how you find all of these interesting women to profile on your blog. But then again, "Interesting is drawn to interesting," so maybe it's not so odd after all!

I laughed when I read that Jocelyn's celeb crush is Alan Arkin. My husband thinks it's hilarious that my "celeb" crushes are journalist Bill Moyers (79) and brilliant physicist Eric Kandel (84). Brilliant and funny will win out everytime!
