UNIFORM | Rockmount Ranch Wear

When it comes to chambray and denim shirts, there's a lot of great labels out there creating a lot of great shirts. But there's something about Denver-based Rockmount Ranch Wear. They're certainly about style, but not trends. Rockmount was founded in 1946 and claims to have introduced the first western shirt with snaps. It's become their signature, in fact, their diamond snap shirt is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian. But if this shirt looks familiar it's probably not because you've seen them on cowboys working the Rockies (although maybe...), it's because so many rock and roll icons have chosen Rockmount as their shirt of choice. Bob Dylan, Elvis, Phil Lesh, Bonnie Raitt, Jack White, Paul McCartney and non-musician cool dudes like Jeff Bridges, Robert Redford and James Caan—to name just a few. I found the above Rockmount Denim shirt ($84) through Ranchlands Mercantile (more on them soon), but there's a ton to sort through on the endearingly low-tech Rockmount website, although I get the feeling going into the Denver store is an experience that can't be matched online.
