SCREEN | Born Free

Photo of Virginia McKenna portraying Joy Adamson in the 1966 film Born Free via Operarex.

After portraying a naturalist and wild animal advocate as an actress, Virginia McKenna went on to become one in her real life, founding the Born Free Foundation which helps keep wildlife in the wild.

Thanks to Julia of Big Shot Movie Club for the idea.

@Once Agreed, the hair is SO good. @Anon I bet you're right, they're the original desert boot-maker, right?

I saw the film about a month before I turned nine; my birthday presents were a watch and a paperback copy of Born Free. I wanted to do what the Adamsons did when I grew up! At least I look the part. ;)
