Everyday I hear more and more great stories about people just up and starting companies, and Scout Seattle is another one to add to that inspiring group. The Masters, the husband and wife team behind the new brand Scout Seattle, moved from Florida to Seattle and noticed they were spending a lot more of their weekends outdoors among the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, Puget Sound, the high desert and rain forests near the city, and lot less of their weekends indoors in air conditioning. So they embarked on a business to bring back that old-school analog aesthetic to car camping of generation's past. Scout Seattle offers an edited list of American-made items including single pole canvas tents, field beds, pocket knives and a cotton chambray bandana—which is being given away!

To enter to win the Semaphore Square bandana made from Japanese chambray, leave a comment and cross your fingers! I'll pick a winner at random tomorrow evening. Good luck!
***The winner is Korey*** who said: I've always wanted to run away with a clean pair of underwear, a cheese sandwich and a teddy bear wrapped up in a kerchief on a stick. . .(haha, nice!)

That square bandana is bangin. I'd wear it as a scarf, tie it around my bag, use it as a pocket square, or just pin it up on my wall. Drool.

I also love hearing about new start up companies ... and this sounds like a good one. I am amazed at the amount of things the semaphore square can be used for! :) Thanks for the opportunity.

Yes... Bring it back! "Old-school analog aesthetic to car camping" is essential to the New World order. I always tell my kids to spend one night a year sleeping in a car... but not one of them owns a vehicle!
love this...fingers crossed!
Loving the old-school technologies and aesthetic. Makes me wish I lived in the west again!

Cool stuff!!!! Love the knife!!!
That bandana is perfection! Loving the idea of this company and might need to purchase of few products for my next camping trip in a few weeks.
I'm a big fan of a lot of the stuff you post. I'm a big fan of that kind of vintage aesthetic. However, I am also a big fan of staying dry when I go play in the mountains, and none of there stuff seems to be remotely functional for that purpose. Cotton? really? It doesn't dry and it stays cold. It would be great to see someone merge style and function, but this stuff seriously misses the mark. I would NEVER take someone camping in the Pacific Northwest with this gear. I spend a lot of time in those mountains and it rains and snows a lot! Sorry to be the jerk who calls you out this, but it looks like gear for people who want to look outdoorsy, but aren't. There are a lot of fabrics these days that would allow the same look, but also give you a much dryer experience. You should totally give it to the girl who wants to set up the tent in her loft. This stuff is perfect for that.
I love their journal reference to the Banawe Rice Fields in the Philippines. I was born in Baguio, Luzon and it's really this breathtaking.
ooo seattle love!
me, me, me, me!!!
So perfect for this Maine girl!
Thanks for the giveaway. That tent is darling!
I love camping!
I would be honored to wear this bandana!! I love the whole aesthetic Scout embraces
Love it!
I love this so much! The colors make me think of Fantastic Mr. Fox or Moonrise Kingdom. I need a cute bandana in my life.
today IS my birthday, so...
It seems to me its more for the "camping" as in sleeping in the car kind of activity. I have two sets of outdoorsy things, the "hardcore" items that are specifically engineered for staying warm and dry and helping you survive away from civilization, and the "casual" set that is more for sleeping in the car as a hotel replacement or day hiking in texas. I see a place for both sorts of items, at least for me (of course I do live in sunny TX) but agree that its important to not try to do the first kind of outdoor activity with equiptment meant for the second.
(Ironically the last thing I wrote was about "car camping".. looks like its trending. :)
How cool is this?!?!
